This is a series of CNC bit and tool storage blocks.

One of the blocks is designed to hold the CNC bits needed for your current in work project. It has ten numbered pockets, so you can place the required bits in order needed and as labeled in the CAM gcode.

The storage blocks have labeled slots for O Flute, Ball Nose, and Engraving sorted by suitable stock material. Metal, Plastic/Wood/Composites, and there is a Misc block for extra bits that do not fit neatly into the other categories. The Metal block has space for Drill Bits, and the Plastic block has space for Corn Bits, and the ten pack Engraving Bits.

Misc Block has Chamfering, Threading, and options for bit shank size 6mm, 1/4in, or both. As well as space for different Collets and the Collet Tool, plus a spot for a Surfacing bit, of about 1in in diameter. (the pocket is 31mm square)

The Tool block has spots for all the common items you will have with a Makera CNC, including the optional accessories such as the low profile vise and 4th Axis.

If you download the files to calculate paths yourself based on your bits… I recommend a decent sized chamfer for all the tool/bit pockets. For the text, I find the 30*x0.3mm engraving bit works great for text sized under 8mm tall, and the 30*x0.5mm engraving bit works well for 8-10mm tall text. I offset the width of the bit tip. (0.3 or 0.5) You may need to play with the bit offset to get the CAM to calculate the complete outline of the lettering. As it may skip some narrower spots. If you have a 30*x0.1mm That can work on the smallest text without effort. If you use too small an engraving bit, the text does not come out as clean, with a peak in the center of the letter outline.

Any material of suitable size will work. Tooling board is an easy and cheap option, Delrin is the more robust option. I designed these around the standard material sizes you can get from Makera.

The radius of the pockets are designed to be milled by the standard 1/8in (3.175mm) O Flute, except for the project bits holder. It uses a thinner stock, so the pockets fit a little tighter. It needs a 2mm or smaller bit to do a finishing pass to get the radius.

When milling angled pocket sides as I have setup in the gcode and MakeraCAM file. Use a 1/8 (3.175mm) Ball end with 0.5 step and depth of cut. It is slow, so up the feeds to compensate for the small amount of material removal. I went with 1250 and this setup makes a pretty smooth angled surface, but not perfect.
