EDC Ring

This project includes an official production reference video. Everyone is welcome to refer to it for replication and co-creation.

This is an EDC ring project that supports daily wear as well as fidget stress-relief functions. You can freely use your own materials to complete the build. The uploaded model files include the overall assembly drawing, four component part drawings, and tooling drawings.

The production process is quite complex, making it suitable for experienced maker enthusiasts and long-term users of MAKERA devices. You may further optimize the model independently — for example, upgrading it to accommodate bearings for smoother rotation. Model 6704 bearings are recommended.

The key highlight of this project lies in completing a comprehensive build using coordinated 3-axis and 4-axis machining workflow, rather than focusing only on the final product itself.

Hope this brings you inspiration. Let’s unlock more creative gameplay together. You are also welcome to co-create and iterate on this project.

Below is the description of the project processing procedures. You may download the NC toolpath files for this project, then complete the machining by following the video tutorial and the procedure instructions below:

Procedure 1: Integrated 4-axis Machining Process

Clamp a hollow brass bar with outer diameter 30mm, wall thickness 6mm, and length 65mm via the 4-axis fixture. Upload and select the program: EDC_JZ_F3.175T1B3.175T2. Start the machining task and wait for the equipment to finish this procedure.

Procedure 2: Tooling Part – Inner Bore Machining

Install the 4-axis and 3-axis module tools according to the video tutorial. Use a 4-jaw self-centering chuck to clamp a standard 6061 aluminum alloy bar of 30mm diameter × 30mm length. Upload and select the program: EDC_JZ_GZ1_P3.175T1. Start the machining task and wait for the equipment to finish this procedure.

Procedure 3: Tooling Part – Side Grooving and Parting Off

Remove the finished part from Procedure 2, then mount it onto the 4-axis module tool as shown in the video. Upload and select the program: EDC_JZ_GZ2_P2T4. Start the machining task and wait for the equipment to finish this procedure.

Procedure 4: Machining of Ring Outer Ring Component

Clamp the tooling and ring outer ring component with a 4-jaw self-centering chuck following the video tutorial. Upload and select the program: JZ_W_F3.175T1. Start the machining task and wait for the equipment to finish this procedure.

Procedure 5: Machining of Ring Movable Ring Component

Clamp the ring movable ring component using the same clamping method as the previous step. Upload and select the program: JZ_N2_F3.175T1. Start the machining task and wait for the equipment to finish this procedure.

Procedure 6: Ring Magnetic Position Ring Component – Threaded Hole Machining

Clamp the ring magnetic position ring component with the same clamping method as the previous step, small diameter side facing upward. Upload and select the program: JZ_N_2_D0.8T8M1T7. Start the machining task and wait for the equipment to finish this procedure.

Procedure 7: Ring Magnetic Position Ring Component – Inner Wall Surface Machining

Clamp the ring magnetic position ring component with the same clamping method as the previous step, small diameter side facing downward. Upload and select the program: JZ_N_1_F3.175T1B3.175T2. Start the machining task and wait for the equipment to finish this procedure.

Procedure 8: Machining of Ring Retaining Ring Component

Clamp the ring retaining ring using the same clamping method as the previous step. Upload and select the program: JZ_D_F2T4B3.175T2D1T10. Start the machining task and wait for the equipment to finish this procedure.

All equipment machining procedures are now completed. Afterwards, follow the video tutorial to complete assembly, and you will obtain the finished EDC ring product.
